Onguma The Fort
There is nowhere else in Namibia quite like The Fort. Its dramatic Afro-Moroccan design, raw walls, stone-clad features, and towering central structure make an immediate impression on arrival, but it is the view that stays with you. Perched overlooking Fischer's Pan with Etosha National Park stretching out beyond, The Fort captures some of the finest sunsets in the country. As the light drops and the pan turns gold, the camel thorn trees and the animals moving between them complete a scene that is difficult to forget.
Accommodation
The Fort has 13 suites in total, each with its own character and direct views over the waterhole and Fischer’s Pan.
Bush Suites
Eleven spacious bush suites are positioned approximately fifty metres apart from one another, ensuring complete privacy. Each suite features:
- King or twin beds with mosquito nets
- Bar fridge and air-conditioning
- Indoor and outdoor shower
- Fireplace
- Private deck with sun loungers and waterhole views
- Wood-fired hot tub
- Yoga Mats
- Free Wi-Fi
Honeymoon Suite
One dedicated honeymoon suite with the same features as the bush suites, plus an outdoor bath and lounge area. Ideal for couples looking for a little more space and privacy.
The Sultan Suite
Located within the main tower of The Fort, the Sultan Suite is a one-of-a-kind space. A large bedroom opens onto a lounge area and private viewing deck, with satellite television, bar fridge, air-conditioning, and a generous bathroom with open shower and indoor bath. The elevated position within the tower offers views toward Etosha and Fischer’s Pan that no other suite at The Fort can match.
The Common Areas
The Fort’s main complex rewards exploration. Classical African details sit alongside Moroccan and Indian influences, with antique windows and doors, raw stonework, and a sense of layered character that reveals itself gradually. Common facilities include:

Activities
